Brookhaven-Roe YMCA Expansion Project

Who we are . . .
Our Y has been dedicated to building strong kids, strong families and strong communities through programs that develop healthy spirit, mind and body. Today we serve over 4,700 members. We offer a myriad of programs and services and need space to offer much, much more. Our facility in Holtsville houses one of the finest Olympic sized swimming pools on Long Island. In that pool, we have taught more than 30,000 children how to swim. We have nine acres of grounds that lets us run programs and offer services that have served more than 50,000 children. Our Day Camp, throughout the summer is a welcome respite for families and children who need summer activities. With the extended hours we offer, some of the children are with us Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
We are part of their family. We are part of many families.

The Project. . .
We, the Executive Staff at the Roe YMCA and the Board of Managers, are very excited to announce a new YMCA in the Village of Patchogue set to open late spring 2010! This 3-story, 54,000 sq. ft. facility, will be the open, welcoming community center for Patchogue and many surrounding communities.
It will house: a six-lane, twenty-five yard pool, three locker rooms (ladies, men’s and one for the family,) gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and sports classes, full day child care wing, a ‘drop-in’ teen center – complete with computer lab, lounge, game section and supervision, a wellness center with cardio, strength training and free weight equipment, an elevated 3-lane running/walking/jogging track and a new Adventure Zone complete with a two-story rock climbing wall! Ground has been broken and construction is under way.
A tremendous amount of work has gone into making this groundbreaking a reality and we cannot wait to build the new YMCA that will serve the surrounding communities. We have been members of the area community for the past 30 years. Due to the generosity of great benefactors that have come before us, like Norman Roe, we have been able to grow and serve the youth through all of those 30 years.
How were doing. . .
In 2008 we embarked on a Capital Campaign and to date have raised more than $16.5 million dollars in donations and pledges. This year we are taking our efforts public to raise the final $3.2 million dollars to build a Y that the community needs and deserves.
