Shotokan Karate

Shotokan Karate is one of the four main schools of Karate in Japan. It is best characterised by its long and deep stances and its use of more linear movements.

Shotokan Karate is considered by many a sports style of Karate, where tournaments and point-sparring are central to the art.

Founder of Shotokan: Gichin Funakoshi (Originally an Okinawan Karate Instructor who moved to Japan).

Karate I A (Beginner)

This class will introduce younger children to shotokan karate in a positive and safe environment. Your child will be taught kata, stances, and kihon (basic blocks and punches). Instructor: Rafael Perez

Karate I B (Beginner)

The beginner class teaches katas, kihon (basic blocks and punches), stances, and controlled sparring drills. Classes are designed for new students and lower ranking belts to establish a strong foundation in shotokan.

Karate II A (Beginner/Intermediate)

Through traditional karate training, the students will gain self-discipline, confidence, flexibility, strength and increased focus and coordination, Instructor: Rafael Perez

Karate II B (Intermediate/Advanced)

The children will learn the philosophy and physical conditioning with an emphasis on reflex development, timing, eye-hand coordination, balance and a sense of well-being.
