Day Camp

Camps, Day Camps, Summer Camps, Youth Camps, Kiddie Camps or any Specialty Camp at the Great South Bay YMCA in Suffolk County, NY share one thing: they're about discovery. Kids have the opportunity to explore the outdoors, find new talents, try new activities, gain independence, and make lasting friendships and memories. And, of course, it's fun too!

Kiddie Camp
(3-5 years) must be 3 and toilet trained by June 1st, 2012

One of our most successful programs for pre-school children.
This unique experience is designed to provide both physical growth
and socialization through fun-filled early childhood activities.
Campers use the air-conditioned indoor facilities of the YMCA pre-school,
the enclosed outdoor playground area and have supervised access to
the many activity areas of the YMCA. Activities include swimming lessons
(full day only), special events, arts and crafts, music, movement and much,
much more; staff/camper ratio is 1 to 5.

Children eligible for Kiddie Camp must be toilet trained.

FULL DAY 9:30 am – 3:45 pm              HALF DAY 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
M – F $895 / 3 wk session                   (No swimming lessons)
M/W/F $580 / 3 wk session                M/W/F $385 / 3 wk session
T/Th $420 / 3 wk session

**Depending on scheduling restrictions some activities may not be available for
part-time campers (i.e. Inflatables, Water Play, etc.)**

Youth Camp
(Completed Grades K-4)

Location: YMCA 200 W. Main Street, Bay Shore, NY

Our YMCA Youth Camp encourages campers to have fun while participating
in group activities, special events and trips which develop creativity, independence,
and a sense of teamwork. Campers will partake in art/crafts, dance instruction,
music, theatre, karate, sports, cooking, ga-ga, swimming, inflatable moonbounce,
rock climbing, waterslides, trips and a whole lot more! Youth Camp is designed
to give campers a wide variety of activities, make friends, and build character.

5 Days M – F $895 / 3 wk session
3 Days M/W/ F $580 / 3 wk session

Junior Travel Camp
Completed Grades 5-6)

New this year for the emerging “tween”, Junior Travel Camp is modeled after our
Teen Camp. This camp program is designed for the camper who wants to participate
in camp activities but also travel on various field trips 2-3 times a week. Junior Travel
Camp has been created to evolve with today’s older child and their interests. Exceptional
activities and a commitment to the true spirit of summer camp will stimulate the natural
progression of your older campers.

5 Days M – F $895 / 3 wk session

Sports Camp

(Completed Grades 1-8)

Location: Mary G. Clarkson Elementary School, 1415 E. 3rd Ave., Bay Shore, N.Y.

Sports Camp is designed to provide children with an exciting learning experience
(socially, emotionally, and physically) using sports as its medium. The focus is to
keep campers active, learning and playing a wide variety of sports and games in
a fun and safe environment.

“CLINIC CHOICE”
Campers will focus on two sports “Majors” per week in a clinic setting. The objective
of “Clinic Choice” is to enhance the skills of the individual sport by working on speed, strength, coordination, and agility. Our professional instructors will teach the fundamentals
of the sport while promoting self-confidence, and self esteem. The sports “Majors” for
“Clinic Choice” are: Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, Football, and Lacrosse. Your camper
will also enjoy other recreational activities such as tennis, hockey, volleyball, swimming,
rock-wall climbing, special events, and even field trips! *There is a strong possibility that Sports camp will be eligible for a free lunch program through Bay Shore Schools. More info to follow late Spring.

Performing Arts Camp
(Ages 9-17)

Curtain going up! Learn acting, voice, dance and backstage arts with professionals
AND be part of an exciting production of a hit musical show! Great for beginners and
experienced performers, the 6-week session includes a trip to Broadway (pending-
there will be an additional fee for this trip) and culminates in a full camper production
of the Broadway musical “Hairspray”. The 3-week session includes a “Circus McGirkus
Day” and a camper production of “Seussical, Jr.” NEW THIS YEAR—more swim and outdoor
time. Space is limited so register early!

*There is a strong possibility that Performing Arts camp will be eligible for a free lunch
program through Bay Shore Schools. More info to follow late Spring.

Parent Handbook Session III



Performing Arts Camp, Jr.
(Must have completed Kindergarten)
 
This program offers one 3 day a week, three-week session to introduce young
children to the magic of theatre. Program will include creative play, acting out
stories, creating characters, basic acting technique, voice and movement work,
following (stage) directions as well as basic set and prop building. All campers
will perform in an exciting end of session show, “Disney’s Jungle Book Kids”!

One Session Only:
Session I June 25th-July 13th
Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9pm-4pm
NEW Location: Bay Shore Middle School
3 Days M/W/F $605 / 3 wk session

 

Teen Travel Camp
(Completed Grades 7–9)

Location: Mary G. Clarkson Elementary School, 1415 E. 3rd Ave., Bay Shore

The Great South Bay YMCA looks forward to another year of action-packed trips and
activities in our Teen Travel Camp. Teens will embark on three or four fun-filled trips
each week! Previous trips have included action packed theme parks, beach trips, various NYC locations, professional ball games, out-of-state attractions and many more. The remainder
of their time will be spent making friends and enjoying YMCA teen activities including swimming, fitness, sports, crafts, Teen Lounge, and much more.

5 Days M – F $990 / 3 wk session

CIT Camp
Program for 15 yrs old (must be 15 before December 31, 2012)

The CIT program is a great opportunity for exceptional young adults to
develop their leadership skills. The program will provide hands-on learning
allowing teens to slowly work into responsible roles leading children. CIT
candidates must submit an application by May 30th and each individual will be
subjected to an interview by our CIT Director.

One Session Only June 25th - Aug. 24th (9 wks)
5 Days M-F $925 / 9 wk session 


Extended Day

Youth/Sports/Performing Arts/Performing Arts Jr. :

Monday through Friday (Extended AM) 7:00am-9:00am - $100/3 week session
                                   (Extended PM) 4:00pm-6:00pm - $100/3 week session

Adventure Travel/Teen:
Monday through Friday (Extended AM) 7:00am-9:00am - $100/3 week session
                                   (Extended PM) 4:00pm-6:00pm - $100/3 week session



Transportation
(Ages K and up)

Transportation is available for: Youth (K-4th grade), Junior Travel (5th -6th grade),
Sports, Performing Arts, Teen Travel, and CIT’s. We provide door-to-door transportation
for our YMCA day campers! Air conditioned mini-buses will pick up campers at their
homes and drop off to the YMCA only during regular camp hours (9AM Drop-Off or
4PM Pickup). This service is not available for half-day campers, Kiddie Camp and all
extended programs.

5 Days M-F $360 per session (round trip) -OR- $210 per session (one-way ONLY)
3 Days M/W/F $295 per session (round trip) -OR- $175 per session (one-way ONLY)
A $100 non-refundable deposit is required for each session.
