LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a free 12 week wellness activity program designed to help adult cancer survivors achieve their health goals after becoming de-conditioned and chronically fatigued from the disease and/or the treatment.
The goals of the program include:
· Improve energy levels and self esteem
· Improve strength and endurance
· Increase flexibility
· Increase functional ability to perform everyday tasks
· Reduce the severity of therapy side effects
· Prevent unhealthy weight changes
· Develop an ongoing physical fitness program so participants can continue to
practice a healthy lifestyle, not only as part of a recovery but as a way of life
Our LIVESTRONG at the YMCA certified coaches provide a supportive, safe
environment for each class. Coaches have participated in specialized training in the elements of cancer, post-rehab exercise, nutrition and supportive cancer care.
