YOUTH PROGRAMS

FIT KIDS (8-12 years)

45 Minutes

A fitness class designed for children with a focus on cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance. Class consists of moderate intensity exercise including dance moves, games, circuits and use of equipment. It is a safe and fun way to get and stay fit.

FEE: Membership + $65  

YOUTH YOGA

This class is suitable for that special in between age from 9-12 no matter what their skill level. We will introduce poses to increase flexibility and strength, develop coordination and posture and learn how to relax.

TEEN MUSCLE FITNESS (Ages 13 – 16)

• Held in the Strength Training Center
• Instructional small group class
• Class limited to 6 participants
• Gain knowledge of weight training and proper exercise techniques

Fee: Membership plus $70, 1x wk/10 week session

Y LEADERS CLUB (Teens in grades 7–12)

Leaders Club Kids:
• Make new friends
• Are YMCA members
• Meet teens from all over the northeast
• Travel and take local trips
• Learn about themselves
• Opportunity to meet community service hours
• Meets Thursday nights 7:30 plus additional meetings for special events and projects.
• Registration Dates: Feb 11, April 22, Sept 16, Nov 23

Fee: Membership + $20 per 10 week session

TEEN CENTER (Current 7th – 12th Grade)

• Saturday night from 8pm – 10:15pm
• Pool, weight room, basketball, gaming rooms all available to participants
• Fully supervised drug and alcohol free environment
• YMCA membership not required
• Proof of grade and contract signed by teen AND parent/guardian required
• Teen Center runs from October – May
• No Teen Center on 1/2, 1/16, 2/13, 2/20, 3/27, 4/3
• Last Teen Center is 5/15 and will recommence on Saturday, October 16th, 2010.

DODGEBALL (3rd – 6th Grade)

10 week session
• Controlled dodgeball games in a safe environment
• Low impact balls are used to prevent injury
• Strict rules in place to ensure fairness
• Class will be split into numerous teams each week with round robin games taking place
• Points and Standings will be recorded
• Played in the HEC gymnasium
• A game for children of all sizes and skill levels. This is a game that anyone can play
• Gives children the chance to stay active
• You just have to try it!

KICKBALL  (3rd – 6th Grade)

8 week session
• Enjoy this fun playground game in a safe environment
• Cross between soccer and baseball
• Rules will be taught
• Class will be split into teams and games will be played
• No equipment necessary
• This is a game that anyone can play
• Gives children the chance to stay active
• Played in the HEC gymnasium
