My family was broken back in 2011 due to substance abuse issues related to my husband. Hopeless and helpless I stumbled upon YMCA Family Services seeking help to put back together my life, regardless of my husband’s sobriety. I was fortunate enough to be matched with a counselor at the Y who helped me work on restoring my life and self. I am forever thankful for her guidance and continued help. I am happy to say that my husband is almost 3 years sober and we have and continue rebuild our family.
Recently, when children services were introduced to the new location, my older daughter, who was also deeply affected by my husband’s substance abuse, participated in therapy. The Y took such good care of her and my whole family. In fact, during the holidays, the YMCA bought both my daughters a multitude of gifts, giving us a renewed sense of normalcy in our lives.
